In Their Own Story

The sky above the valley turned a sickly shade of crimson as the three planets aligned in their fatal dance. Guts watched in horror as the ground beneath him seemed to breathe, cracking open to reveal a churning sea of blood and shadow. The air grew heavy with the scent of sulfur and old iron. From the heart of the eclipse, five colossal figures emerged, their faces obscured by masks that seemed to mock every human emotion. A low hum vibrated through his bones, a sound that was not heard but felt deep within the soul. As the first scream tore from the throat of a comrade, Guts realized there was no running; the gates of hell had opened right where they stood.

The Eclipse functions as a ritualistic door rather than a weapon wielded by a single individual. It is triggered when a human in extreme despair or ambition activates a Behelit, a cursed artifact that acts as an inter-dimensional key. Once activated, the sky shifts to a blood-red hue, and the constellation of the zodiac appears upside down, signaling the arrival of the God Hand. The event works by forcibly pulling the victims into the astral plane while their physical bodies remain on Earth, creating a bridge for demons to invade. Those caught in the ritual are subjected to a selection process; some are devoured immediately, while others are transformed into Apostles, losing their humanity to become servants of the God Hand. No single mortal wields the Eclipse as a tool; rather, it is an event orchestrated by the God Hand themselves. However, individuals can inadvertently summon it through the use of the Behelit. The only way to survive or resist its effects is through immense willpower and the ability to fight against the astral entities directly, though this often comes at a terrible personal cost.
